ERDC/TN APCRP-BC-20; Relationship Between Eurasian Watermilfoil Phenology and Endophyte Presence

چکیده

INTRODUCTION: Endophytic fungi are microorganisms that live asymtomatically within their host tissues (Wilson 1995). Since the term endophyte was first introduced by DeBary (1866) the definition has been much debated. Presently the definition includes a broad array of organisms that can live within plant tissues (Stone et al. 2000). What are considered “true” endophytes live benignly within a host and do not produce any symptoms that might indicate their presence (Wilson 1995). Latent pathogens, also considered to be endophytes, live asymptomatically within the host plant until it undergoes biotic or abiotic stress, which induces them to become pathogenic and visible disease symptoms appear on the host (Carroll 1988, Saikkonen et al. 2004).

ERDC/TN APCRP-BC-32 "Genetic Relationships among Invasive Hydrilla (Hydrilla verticillata L.f. Royle) Biotypes in the US and Their Implications for Management"

INTRODUCTION: Hydrilla verticillata L.f. Royle (hydrilla; Hydrocharitaceae), an invasive submersed plant native to Southeast Asia and Australia, was first introduced into the US through the aquarium trade in Florida in the 1950s (Schmitz et al. 1991). Hydrilla impacts freshwater resources in the US by its aggressive, canopy-forming growth that degrades aquatic ecosystems, limits recreation, fou...

The presence of Eurasian watermilfoil ( Myriophyllum spicatum L.) in aquatic systems has resulted in adverse impacts to native plant communities, ecosystem function, and water resource uses. Eurasian watermilfoil in Hayden Lake, Idaho, has spread rapidly, impacting the native plant community and recreational uses of the lake. Point intercept surveys were conducted to determine the current compo...

Combinations of Endothall with 2,4-D and Triclopyr for Eurasian Watermilfoil Control

BACKGROUND: Eurasian watermilfoil (Myriophyllum spicatum L.) is a widespread submersed aquatic plant that causes nuisance problems across the continental United States. Eurasian watermilfoil is an herbaceous perennial submersed aquatic plant that typically grows in water depths of 1 to 3 m (Aiken et al. 1979). Vegetative propagation is either by direct stem fragments or by autofragmentation thr...

INTRODUCTION: Hydrilla verticillata (L.f.) Royle, a member of the Hydrocharitaceae, was introduced into Florida in the 1950’s (Schmitz et al. 1991). The introduction was the dioecious biotype with only gynoecious plants making up the original infestation. Today hydrilla has invaded at least 21 states either as dioecious or monoecious biotypes or both (Richardson 2008). Called “the perfect aquat...

Eurasian Watermilfoil and Parrotfeather Control Using Carfentrazone-ethyl

Two invasive weed species, Eurasian watermilfoil ( Myriophyllum spicatum L.) and parrotfeather [ Myriophyllum aquaticum (Vell.)
